WHO WE ARE
Henderson Community Church
12001 Oakland St
Henderson, CO 80640
P: (303) 659-4748
115+ years and counting…
Originally started as a Sunday School in the late 1800’s, Henderson Community was just one of a handful of buildings in the area. After serving as the religious cornerstone for local children over more than a decade, Henderson Congregation Church (HCC) was founded in 1904. A community of mostly German emigrants at that time, the church’s earliest services were led exclusively in the German language.
United in Christ’s Love, a Just World for All
As a UCC church, we share a similar vision – to be united in Christ's love, a just world for all through Christ-driven connection, Spirit-led leadership, and God-centered action.
STATEMENT OF FAITH
United Church of Christ Statement of Faith
We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, who is made known to us in Jesus our Lord and Savior, and to whose deeds we testify: God calls the worlds into being, creates humankind in the divine image and sets before us the ways of life and death. God seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin. God judges all humanity and all nations by that will of righteousness declared through prophets and apostles.
Meet the Team
Born in Kansas, Pastor Marcia moved to Colorado when she was a young child and has claimed the Denver Metro area as her home ever since. Growing up on her family’s farm in Southwest Denver, she was surrounded by wheat, cows, and fishing ponds and learned to love spending time outdoors as a result – a past time she still enjoys.
Food Bank Director
Long-time Henderson resident, Bill has been a member of HCC his entire life. Some of his fondest memories of HCC as a child involve the simplicity of HCC being an “old country church” and the relationships of congregation mirroring that of a family.
Voluneer Coordinator, Children & Youth Ministry
A fellow Colorado Native, Nancy grew up in Wheat Ridge and has been a member of HCC for almost 25 years. She and her husband have been married for 33 and have a daughter, son, and 2 grandchildren.
Born and raised in Aurora, IL, Steve moved to Colorado for college where he attended the University of Denver and obtained his bachelor’s degree in English and Religious Studies. If you’re thinking his name has a familiar ring to it – you may be on to something. Steve is married to HCC’s Senior Pastor, Marcia.
