Born in Kansas, Pastor Marcia moved to Colorado when she was a young child and has claimed the Denver Metro area as her home ever since. Growing up on her family's farm in Southwest Denver, she was surrounded by wheat, cows, and fishing ponds and learned to love spending time outdoors as a result a past time she still enjoys.
Marcia attended UNC where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Communications, and a double-major (BA) in French. Later, her passion for public service led her to pursue 3 separate graduate degrees: A Master of Science in Nonprofits (DU), a Master of Divinity (Iliff), and Master of Pastoral and Spiritual Care (Iliff). She is also certified in Spiritual Direction.
After more than 20 years in government, Marcia realized her true calling was ministry, where she could share her love of Jesus by creating a safe place and sense of community for others, and truly help people on a much deeper level. She is passionate about sharing the love of Christ and seeks to create a just world for all through her work.
Marcia has been married to her husband, Steve, for 36 years. They have 2 grown sons, 1 grand-dog, and 4 grand-cats. In their free time, Marcia and Steve love to hike, travel, explore new cuisines, ski, and spend time with their extended family.
Long-time Henderson resident, Bill has been a member of HCC his entire life. Some of his fondest memories of HCC as a child involve the simplicity of HCC being an old country church and the relationships of congregation mirroring that of a family.
After graduating from Brighton High School in 1955, Bill joined the Air Force where he became an Assistant Crew Chief working on B-52 fleet during Vietnam. After the military, he opened his own restaurant in Northglenn and started a family.
Bill has remained with HCC throughout the years, and manages the church's food bank, servicing more than 30 families each week. His vision is to expand the food bank, eventually moving it into a building of its own with a full setup.
Bill considers himself a lifelong volunteer. He recently retired and enjoys spending his time volunteering, spending time with his grandchildren, camping and fishing, and spending time with his friends.
A former elementary school teacher more more than 25 years, Nancy co-leads HCC's children's ministry.
A fellow Colorado Native, Nancy grew up in Wheat Ridge and has been a member of HCC for almost 25 years. She and her husband have been married for 33 and have a daughter, son, and 2 grandchildren.
Nancy served in the public school system as an elementary school teacher for 27 years and is thrilled to be able to share her passion by serving in the Children and Youth Ministry at HCC.
In her free time, Nancy loves spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, and making jewelry. She also enjoys journaling as she feels it is an important part of the spiritual journey.
Born and raised in Aurora, IL, Steve moved to Colorado for college where he attended the University of Denver and obtained his bachelor's degree in English and Religious Studies. If you are thinking his name has a familiar ring to it you may be on to something. Steve is married to HCC's Senior Pastor, Marcia.
After college and years of working at Continental Airlines, Steve went back to school to obtain his teaching credentials and eventually became a teacher at Columbine High School. After 25 years of teaching at Columbine, he plans to retire in June 2019.
After retirement, Steve plans to get outside and enjoy the lovely Colorado outdoors more, and travel with his wife, Pastor Marcia. In his free time, Steve plays the keyboard player in a Bruce Springsteen band, and spends time with his family.
We are thrilled to have Steve flex his musical muscles as our Volunteers Worship Team Lead on Sunday's at HCC.
